A Young Company Built on an Old Idea: Service Is the Product
MMY Bags is a handbag trading and sourcing company headquartered in Xihu District, Hangzhou — beside West Lake, in one of China’s most international trading cities. Founded in 2019, we connect brands and importers around the world with a vetted network of specialist bag factories, and we manage every order with the care of a partner rather than the distance of a middleman.
Our Approach
One Partner, One Point of Accountability
The hidden cost of handbag sourcing is rarely the unit price — it is the coordination tax. When design lives with one vendor, hardware with another, the factory with a third, and inspection with a fourth, every mistake becomes an argument about whose fault it was. MMY Bags was built to eliminate that structure. Your merchandiser owns your program from first sketch to final carton, and every specialist they coordinate — pattern studio, tannery agent, QC inspector, freight booker — works inside our process and under our responsibility.
Because we are a trading company and not a factory, we have no production line of our own to fill and no incentive to force your design onto the wrong machines. We earn our margin on service, not on factory utilization — which means our advice about where and how your bag should be made is genuinely aligned with your interests. Below is what we do, in the order your collection will experience it.
01
OEM Sourcing & Production Management
Bring us your completed designs and we take them into production exactly as specified. Our OEM service covers factory matching, pattern verification, material procurement against your bill of materials, production scheduling, and full order management through cutting, stitching, edge finishing, hardware setting, assembly, and packing. We work fluently from tech packs, CAD drawings, physical samples, or detailed photographs, and our engineers flag construction risks before sampling rather than after — if a gusset will pucker or a strap anchor will tear under load, you hear about it while the fix is still free. OEM pricing is fully itemized, so you can see precisely what each material and operation contributes to your unit cost, and adjust specifications to hit your target margin without sacrificing the details your customers will notice.
02
ODM & Design Development
If you have a market opportunity but not a design team, our development office becomes yours. MMY Bags tracks runway, trade fair, and retail data across Paris, Milan, Seoul, and New York, translating seasonal directions into commercially viable bag designs for your price point and region. Drawing on the pattern libraries of our partner workshops, we present more than two hundred curated styles each quarter, available for exclusive adoption in your territory. You can also commission fully bespoke development: tell us the customer, the retail price, and the feeling the bag should create, and we return concept boards, material proposals, and costed prototypes within three weeks. Intellectual property created under ODM commissions is contractually yours — exclusivity clauses and NDAs are standard in our development agreements.
03
Private Label & Branding
A private-label bag succeeds or fails on the details that carry your name. We arrange the full toolkit of brand execution: blind embossing, gold and silver foil stamping, debossed leather patches, woven interior labels, engraved metal logo plates, custom zipper pulls, and printed linings. Branding extends beyond the bag itself to dust bags, hang tags, care cards, gift boxes, and retail-ready packaging sourced through our long-term printing partners. For e-commerce clients we also manage polybag and Amazon FBA-compliant prep, including suffocation-warning labeling, barcode application, and carton marks formatted to your fulfillment center’s requirements. Your brand guideline document becomes our production checklist — Pantone references, logo clearances, and placement tolerances are enforced at line level and verified again at our final inspection.
04
Material Sourcing & Development
Materials are where a bag’s price, durability, and story are decided. Our sourcing desk maintains audited relationships with tanneries and mills across China, Italy, and South Korea, covering full-grain and top-grain cowhide, nappa, saffiano, suede, corrected grain, and an expanding library of vegan alternatives: GRS-certified recycled PU, water-based PU, cactus and apple leather, cork, and recycled nylon. Hardware is sourced in zinc alloy, brass, and stainless steel with finishes from brushed gold to matte gunmetal, all salt-spray tested for corrosion resistance. If your brand requires certified supply chains — Leather Working Group audits, GRS traceability, OEKO-TEX linings — we procure against those certificates and pass the documentation through to you with the shipment. Custom material development, such as a proprietary grain emboss or an exclusive colorway, is available from as little as three hundred meters.
05
Quality Control & Compliance
Quality at MMY Bags runs on a two-layer system. The producing factory conducts its own incoming-material and in-line inspections; then our independent QC team — which answers to you, not to the factory — performs a final random inspection to AQL 2.5 on every shipment without exception, covering appearance, measurement, function, and packing. Factories enter our network only after an in-person audit of their workshops, social compliance, and quality history, and the factories we work with hold current BSCI, Sedex, or ISO 9001 credentials. Product compliance files for REACH, CPSIA, California Prop 65, and UKCA are arranged through accredited laboratories including SGS and Intertek as part of our standard export workflow. Third-party inspection nominated by you is welcomed at any stage and facilitated at no charge.
06
Export Logistics & After-Sales
An order is only finished when the goods are selling. Our export desk quotes and manages FOB, CIF, and DDP terms, consolidating sea freight for volume programs, air freight for season-critical launches, and rail options for European destinations. We prepare the full documentation set — commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, fumigation certificate where required — and coordinate directly with your customs broker or freight forwarder. After delivery, every order carries a twelve-month workmanship guarantee: manufacturing defects confirmed by photo evidence are credited, replaced, or remade on the next order, and your merchandiser remains your standing contact for reorders, which we can typically turn around in twenty to twenty-five days using retained patterns and material records.
Sampling Policy
See It, Carry It, Test It — Before You Commit
We believe a handbag should never be ordered from a photograph. First prototypes are arranged in seven to ten working days from a confirmed specification, and the standard sample fee is fully refunded against your first bulk order. During development you receive photo and video updates at each stage, and finished samples ship by DHL or FedEx with freight collected or prepaid as you prefer.
For trade fair season we run an accelerated lane: confirmed designs submitted before the tenth of the month are sampled in time for the following month’s buying calendar. Salesmen samples, colorway sets, and size runs are all supported, and your approved golden sample is sealed, photographed, and archived as the binding reference for bulk inspection.
Tell Us What You Want to Build
Every program starts with a conversation. Share your brief, your budget, or simply the market you want to win, and our merchandising team will respond within one business day with a concrete proposal — not a brochure.
